Muqdisho-KNN–The Kulmiye News Network in Mogadishu has presented an honorary award to the speaker of the Somalia Parliament Prof. Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari in well decorated event in Villa Hargeysa, the administrative offices of the parliament.
A well-organized ceremony in Villa Hargeysa, the administration of Kulmiye Radio presented the Honorary award to the speaker, which he deserved for his great role of speaking pure Somali language for his addresses of the parliament, his speeches and media conferences and statements.
The speaker is recognized as the only Somali leader who doesn’t mix the Somali language with the foreign languages when he speaks to public as well as the media, and in that regard Kulmiye Radio awarded him for choosing the pure Somali language without mixing other foreign languages.
The event, which was held on the eve of the 4th anniversary of the foundation of Kulmiye News Network, becomes that first of its kind, which the Somali media institutions awarded a Somali leader for his role of what the local consider very important like the use of the national language without mixing other language such us English, Arabic, Italian and others.
Osman Abdullahi Gure, the director of Kulmiye News Network spoke at the opening of the event and told speaker Jawari why Kulmiye radio wants to give him an award.
“The speaker is the only Somali leader in the who uses the Somali language without mixing other languages, that is a move to consider the existence of our national language, we know he speaks other languages, but your respect to our mother tongue makes great sense for the people”
Abwan Gure also requested Abukar Albadri, a Somali journalist who advocates for the restoration of the Somalia culture and traditions to present the award certificate to the speaker on behalf of Kulmiye News Netwrok.
Abukar Sheikh Ahmed Albadri speaking up on presenting the award certificate to the speaker said “It is great honor for me to present this award to you, speaker, on behalf of Kumliye News Network, I am sure you deserved to be awarded because of your respect to the national language”
“I request you to present the Somalia culture in the parliament and convince the lawmakers to dress as representatives of the public and use local traditional dressing while in the parliament” he added.
Abukar Albadri requested the speaker to tell the parliament to speak Somali language when they make their speeches and discussions about the bills and motions in order the public to understand what their lawmakers said.
Speaker Jawari, accepting the award praised Kulmiye Radio for its role of encouraging the public to unite for the public interested and promotion of peace.
“First of all I congratulate Kulmiye Radio for its 4th anniversary, I listen Kulmiye Radio and I like some of its programs, I commend the great services it does for the information, entertaining and mobilization of the public”
“I am very touched the you’re awarding me to the use of the Somali language, while I believe my Somali was still poor, but thanks that you knew I was using poor Somali in order to respect the moral ethics of my people” he added
The speaker promised to raise the issue of the language to the parliament in order to make them know that both the media and the public are following our discussions and need to understand what the lawmakers discussion and their rights.
Kulmiye Radio awards the individuals that did great things with public interested in its yearly anniversary ceremony, which it intends to recognize the great work those individuals does for the public interest. END
